Traditionally I am not someone that makes New Years Resolutions – up until two years ago when I promised myself to at least try to be healthy and to stay away from eyelash & hair extensions (don’t ask) for at least THAT year. I surprised even myself when I managed to stick to all three “resolutions”, which turned into me challenging myself again at the beginning of 2015 and what do you know, challenges achieved!
So unofficially, for 2016 my resolution is to get more organised, in life and in business. Which is no easy task, let me tell you. I am that parent – the one that forget to respond to birthday invitations, resulting in my son reminding me either the day before or the day upon which then follows a mad dash of gift buying etc. It’s not pretty.
With NailCandi® my mind is always so pre-occupied and I am forever multi-tasking. I don’t intend to, but I do not always get to things that in the back of my mind I moved to “later”, that more often than not I just don’t get around to it because it completely slipped my mind. In fact, if it wasn’t for my PA and our general office assistant continuously reminding me about my to do’s and sending emails or scheduling meetings in Outlook, consequences would most likely be disastrous.
I thought this would be a good opportunity to re-connect with my creative core and decided to go old school with my organising and actually put pen to paper. I spent days Googling the perfect dairy. It had to be pretty, have a decent layout with enough space to scribble and the options to add or remove pages so that I can add my Social Media planning schedule and other business lists. Enter the Erin Condren Life Planner.
As described on her website, the planner consist of a mixture of lined pages, designer blank pages, graph pages and motivational quotes to help you maximize your positivity and productivity. You can even step it up a notch and “scrapbook” it with assorted stickers, bookmarks and inserts. There are loads of Erin Condren Facebook Pages and it seems preparing your weekly spread with Washi tape and stickers are a huge thing. I tried it and immediately hated it, but if you are into the scrapbooking thing I am sure you would love it!
In order to receive my Planner in Time for Christmas, I opted for the Good To Go Horizontal Lay-Out and thanks to Aramex Global Shopper I received my order on the morning of the 24th! Being a lefty the horizontal works great for me, but it seems like the vertical layout is slightly more popular. There are loads of etsy shops where you can download pintables for your planner, and some of the Facebook pages even have some free printables.
Each book comes with a coupon code for a free personalised cover, snap-in bookmark, durable 2 sided pocket folder and perpetual calendar and a few other surprises. The months are color coded with a month-to-view. I also opted for extras like the snap-in Meal Planner and Dashboard. You can write with permanent marker on these and remove it with cotton wool and alcohol or a facial wipe. Cool huh?
I just loved the pocket inserts and got myself some extras of these as well. I always have school newsletters and post-its laying around which I can now stick in here. I really am in love with my EC Planner and hope that this will make my life a little easier and organised. This planner does not come cheap, but as an Entrepreneur and mom I see this as an investment and I am hoping that it will help me save time, which for me is an invaluable currency!
If you would like to get yourself one of these babies, make sure you check in on one of the many FB Pages and ask for a coupon code that will give you 10$ off your order. She also offers great referral programs and discounts for existing customers.
Tell me what you do to stay organised – have you got a magic formula to stretch the hours in a day or do you just wing it? I’d love to know!
